Climate Control Recirculation flap operation

Climate Control Recirculation flap operation
Hi.
I searched thru the forum I did found the famous spring issue in the recirc flap.
And I have read about, if the spring is broken or not attached, having the flap "open"....
So, my question is, what would the "recirculation" position be? If I look up behind the glove box, how do I know is in recirc or not? What is recirc position and what is the "other one" in regards from where I am seeing it ( from under the glove box)?
And also, what is the exact behavior regarding this recirc flap. For what I have read, it`s only supposed to be closed when AUTO or HI or LO TEMP....So, what if I set the Temperature to 75F and ECON mode? I feel the hot air coming out thru the floor vents is pretty moist....Is that normal?
Thanks

If the flap behind the glove box on the firewall is open, that is the recirculation flap. However, if the spring (or retainer the spring connects to on the flap) is broken, it can allow uncontrolled airflow (usually cold outside air) to flow into the passenger footwell. The one on mine snapped the spring retainer tab and I just put a self tapping screw into it and sealed it closed until I could fix the thing. I think the only time it should open is when the "recirc" mode is activated on the Climate Control Head.
