Hello as stated in the title this is my pearl white Audi and I have just come across a huge problem tonight and really need some help as I'm no expert. I am in automive schooling right now (just graduated high school) and I'm in auto body right now soon to be auto mechanics here in the fall. Anyways when I turn on the car and try putting it in any gear a huge clunking clicking noise from the front right wheel occurs. From what I have been reading on here and have been told it's the CV Joint or axle? I know there are quit a few enthusiasts and experts on here that could tell me what's wrong and what I need to do to get this fixed. The sooner the better. Part # for the parts I may need anything. Its sadly sitting in my back yard now and I do not want any hoodlums messing with it so like said the sooner the better! I appreciate any and all advice or help. Hopefully it won't be too costly but I took on the responsibility once buying the car. Earlier that day if I turned left or right it would make a loud clicking noise and when I drove home from work.. Had to get it towed as it Doesent go anywhere just make terrible noises like stated from the front right wheel when I put it in any gear besides park. Please email me at schubertchris29@gmail.com

Yep, sounds like a cv joint. Generally parts stores don't stock them. You can either go to a dealer or Amazon overnight them. It's a pretty straight forward job, maybe 2 hours if you've never done them before. On a side note, remans are a lot cheaper than a dealer, dorman sells good ones that have never given me any issues

Pretty sure outer front joint is same as C4 100/S4/S6 as Audi didn't show a part # for just the joint for the V8's. If searching for used axles, the 4.2's were slightly different lengths than both the 90-92 autos and the 91 5-speed.
