Default Help on power steering pump 200 '89. which reman?

Hi there.

I am very lost finding a power steering pump for my 1989 Audi 200 Turbo ( non-quattro). Mine has a green tag, whihc is PN 034145155D.

As I am surfing in the web, there seem to be a ton of "Audi 200 steering pumps" but I am not quite sure that all fit, as they usually list all models, including 200 10v and 200 20v, whihc in this case, I am sure they are different.
What I am finding a lot are rebuilt pumps for Cardone and/or Astco but again, I don't have the cross references for those as they list all models, so not sure if it would fit.

So, any good advice for a re manufactured pump? Mine has been rebuilt a couple of times and I wan't to buy a good product this time for a long time.

What would be the ones I should look for? Should I only look for reference and cross based on 034 145 155 D? I usually also find ending by G, B.

Any good guidelines for buying a good, remanufactured pump that would be the exact same as mine?

Thanks

I've sucessfully rebuilt 5 of these ZF pumps for the V8 and I'm pretty sure your's is the same/similar.....the kit is about $7 and is just orings plus the shaft seal(if you chose to do it and requires large press....if it's not leaking out of the shaft seal(not under nearly the pressure of the x-caps) you can leave that alone if you don't have a press. Piece of cake, takes about 1/2 hr. I'll even loan you the x-cap tool if you don't want to get one...That's pretty much what you will be getting for $200 or whatever they're asking currently. If the V8 and 200 use the same pump, and you really don't want to rebuild one, let me know and I'll match whoever's price on a rebuilt one and send it to you(have one rebuilt ready for me, but.....Tom

Had to look...all mine have green tag, but 077145155C, but, they're still the same animal, so rebuilding is simply orings as they are pretty robust pumps......worth $7 to try....Tom

Thanks for the tips.
However, do these pumps have any kind of bearing? Mine has like seems to be a bearing or some kind of grinding metal noise, so this is why I was thinking of those reman pumps.

Just an addendum to Tom's info: The V8 pump differs from the 5000/200 version in that the V8's uses a bracket that encloses the pump. The 5k/200 has a bracket the pump mounts onto. A 5k/200 pump will not go into the V8 bracket because the housing has a bump on it that won't fit. But I think the V8 pump will mount to the 5k/200 bracket.

I don't believe there are bearings, but there is a bushing. Not sure there are replacement parts for that bushing and the shaft that goes through it. The 200s Bentley (pg 48_27) shows disassembly procedure. Bentlely says to discard the pump if it has some parts that don't meet specs. I have some images posted starting at http://www.pbase.com/kneale_brownson/image/114727641 and for the next six images.

I didn't see the part about yours being rebuilt before. Germanautoparts.com shows 2 pumps for $275 with one not asking for a core, so sounds new...Good luck, Tom

Hi.
Yes, actually, IIRC, it was "rebuilt" twice since new, with the rebuild kit, but still, second time was not so long ago and I don't think it is in good shape. It seems like the bushing you guys talk about is partly gone or something...
