Hello, I have a 1990 audi 90 quattro 20v with 3rd gear popping out and I fear the transmission is on its way out. I do have 2 other 5 speed quattro transmissions that work perfect. One is from a 1988 10v 90quattro and the other from an 1989 10v 90 quattro. What I am wondering are they same transmissions and can I just put one of these two in to the 20v 90 quattro with out issue?

Any info provided greatly appreciated.

Same case, mounting, bell housing, etc. Just different 3-5 gearing (longer) so your RPM's will drop noticeably. So, no more 4k RPM at 80mph!

Sounds like a win win for me then. Glad I picked them up. If I am understanding correctly the 88 or 89 transmission will give more rpm head room compared to the stock?

Thanks for the info. Do you think I should toss the rear diff that goes with the donor cars transmission or will the stock 20v be OK as far as gear ratio goes?

Rear diffs are identical between the cars, so no use unless there is an issue with yours.
