Default '95 Cab CFS transmission leak.

As get get closer to the end of the most needed repairs on the Cabriolet repairs, one is still beating me.

I replaced the leaking oil cooler, the brake pressure control valve is on it's way, and proceeded to fix the leaking transmission by changing the tranny filter and gasket. But guess what, the gasket wasn't the culprit. It still leaks just as much now as it had before. I went back and did some more research, and found that the electronic connector right above the pan gasket at the back of the transmission has an O-ring. I would like to replace it. I don't know what else would be causing a leak in that location.

Does Rusty or someone else know if this o ring mounts on the inside or outside of the tranny case? Will I need to drop the pan again?

Thanks,
Shawn

Sorry to say..looks like that "O" ring is on the plug connector on the inside. Pan must come back off to get to that "O" ring. If it is the harness connector

The "O" ring is part number 095325381A and about $2 or $3 from Audi/VW.

Be sure the connector itself is not cracked in there..look carefully. If it is cracked you need part number 097927365D and some time to replace it. About $90 online or about $220 from Audi/VW.

If it is the multi-function switch body with an "O" ring (I think that is back there behind the transmission too) that can be removed without dropping the pan..

OK, thanks. I hope to get the pan off in the next couple of days. Then I can see for sure.

The part listed shows it is for a 097/01N. Is the CFS just a version of that transmission?

According to Audi the 097927365D harness is for 1994-1998 Audi Cabriolet...same for the "O" ring.

This is the multi function switch location..if it is leaking up there,

I know this is a way old thread, but was the o-ring the source of the op's leak?

Unfortunately, I still haven't replaced the O ring. I cleaned and degreased everything on the tranny. A few days later, you could see tranny fluid seeping around the fitting Yes, it is the one that requires the pan to be dropped. I fully expect the leak to be gone after this.

I just need a day to get it on the hoist and take care of it. Also at the same time, I have to replace an axle seal. Along with the tranny fluid, there's plenty of gear oil splashed about on the underside of the motor.
