The post from Rusty Spokes may be the way to go. Check out the link supplied and try and get it translated. I've had the same issues with a Coupe and an Avant in the past. Remove the cluster and check for poor solder joints. Clean the copper pads that the screws make contact with before reassembly. I use a glass fiber tip brush for this.
Ive just bought a 1993 Cabrio and the fuel gauge is intermittent in it. Removing the cluster will probably be me first choice to fix it.

I removed the cluster and cleaned everything up, even though it didn't look like there was any problem. I would appear that it didn't do any thing, though after a couple of weeks the RPM counter suddenly went back to normal. Whether it was because of that or not I don't know. The fuel gauge seems to work most of the times, but the temp gauge only seems to work when driving around town, not on the highway. Thanks for the tip though, it definitely was worth trying out.
