Default Distributor issues 90 quattro 20V

I went to replace my rotor but had difficulty removing it. Turns out it was glued on. So i have to use vice grips to crush it and remove. I put the new rotor on put the cap back on and went to start it. Ram for all of 10 secconds then nothing. After messing around for a few hours of no starting my rotor will not spin. What is the issue? Ive heard the gear at the end of the distibutor could be broken or my cam could be broken. I am going to take it out tomorrow and see if the inside gear is broken or not

That is very strange..I've seen the rotors very hard to remove..glue would be unusual.

My guess would be the cam belt is broken..if the distributor is not spinning when the engine is cranked. The drive gear is very robust.

Its dual over head cam. The extetior belt is fine. Where would the issue be?. I was told the gear on the inside was plastic

Could be the issue is the plastic gear..034 has a brass gear..if that is the problem.https://store.034motorsport.com/dist...di-i5-20v.html

yeah the gear was quite broken. I might just buy the whole new distributor though the top end is all sloppy under the rotor might as well replace

Distro gears were originally plastic on MANY 7A engines. Also, all the rotors are originally glued on to the shaft. Most people don't glue replacements on.

Good luck with a whole new distributor. Just replace the gear. The distributor is likely NLA, like most parts for this generation of Audis.
