Default Fan is constantly running! Whats wrong?

I started my car this morning and i drove it for about 25min, by the time i reached downtown i noticed that the coolant temp was at about the lowest level it has ever been. I got out of the car and right away i noticed that both of the fans were running at full speed. I opened the hood and i was right. They were blowing so hard they nearly blew the hat off my head, does anyone know what could be going on? Is it some kind of sensor or relay can someone help me out? Thank you

1. If your rad. fan is running constantly [2]
I would look more at the coolant temp sensor instead.not the sending unit but the Engine Coolant Temp Sensor. If that is faulty or a short somewhere in the circuit then it would cause your veichle to run at base timing and also would keep ur fan running...

2. Re: cooling fan sensor and temp gauge sensor... [2]
The cooling fan sensor is located in the lower radiator hose. Another reason the fan may be staying on all the time is the A/C switch. This is what was wrong with my 'new' 88 90q. The little light in the A/C switch worked correctly, but the part of the...

14. Re: Sorry I can't remember exactly right now, but seems I read somewhere about an issue with rad fan [2]
I'd check out the fan too. Maybe it's starting to crap out and drawing more power than it needs to. With the AC on the fan is running on hi all the time correct? I just drove my CQ on an 15hr drive with the AC on the whole time and my fan on hi (afaik)....

15. Yep, my car's the same. [2]
Not sure if it's the same issue but the low speed fan thermo-swicth in the radiator in my car doesn't work. When the A/C is on the low speed fan is on all the time so it doesn't get too hot. In my case though it doesn't boil as the high speed fan part o...

20. Agree with MikTip, with a little more: [2]

Default 88 5K rad fan relay

I've owned the wagon for 20 years. Recently I noticed that the fan ran on high speed at normal temp. I then noticed that the fan stayed on when I switched the car off -- not the turbo cooling fan. When I returned, the battery had lost enough voltage so as to keep the starter from engaging. I removed all relays from the fuse box under the hood, and the fan stayed on. I then removed the ground wire from the fan and called AAA. Once home, I recharged the battery and the car starts. I've not reconnected the ground wire to the fan motor until I can determine the location of the fan relay. Any help?
