Contemplating it. If you want a side project I can get it to you in about 90 minutes driving time. ;-)
Holding me up is that I have had a back injury slowing me down and I'm trying to keep the wife happy with a convertible to drive this summer.
So its at a trusted local shop but having a hard time sourcing a rebuilder for the early 097 tranny, its a CFS code. Right this minute I'm trying to find the application for 097-300-036-HU because I can get that one brand-new for about $800.

didnt realise you are close by i actually converted my friends 96/97 cab to a manual in Sacramento, took us about a week. the problem about california is your emissions suck! and you can't reuse your stock catalytic converter setup. I don't know if the trans are interchangeable between yours and his. he still got it and it was in ok shape when we pulled it out.
