'91 Audi 80 Quattro no crank no start after new water pump
About a week ago my water pump blew out while driving, but the timing belt stayed intact somehow. The car wasn't overheating or acting abnormally so I'm not entirely sure why it blew out in the first place.
After it blew I had it towed and it would at least try and start. I replaced the water pump and put it back together, it won't even crank like it did before. The battery is dead, but I've been trying to jump it still with no luck. All the lights on the dash including the coolant temp light and the brake light in the center screen, the battery light, oil temp light, abs light, are all blinking when I turn the key. The fuel pump kicks on but still nothing. Any ideas?!!!!

Where to start?...
Hi Jeff,
a.) Please describe further how water-pump has failed, and confirm that you did the pump replacement as part of a complete timing belt replacement procedure;
b.) Why is your battery going flat? Is there a current drain on it with the key out?
c.) Perhaps best not to try to turn the engine over wth the starter if cam timing not confirmed.

1) Check your engine timing, ensure when you replaced it it was replaced correctly.
2) Do a pressure test on all cylinders (you can borrow the tool from Autozone, advanced if that's local to you)
3) Get back to the forums after you try that.

Sorry failed to see you found the solution. Thats great to hear misallied timing can be a scary thing. (Lost a car to that! it was an Eclipse though)

Not much of a loss then I guess! Haha
But, I'm glad I caught it and didn't lose my Audi. She's got 453,722 miles on it, and still runs like new. As a matter of fact, just drove it 1,600 miles cross country to see my parents in upstate New York!
Best car I've ever had.
Thanks for the reply!
