Default 94 Audi 90 CS Quattro (Sensor Question)

Hi there, I'm new here obviously. I've been searching the forums and the rest of the internet for an answer here but just cant seem to find one... I have what appears to be a sensor that is disconnected.

It is located right behind the inner part of the front passenger side axle. It appears to be pointed at the axle itself, which leads me to believe it is a speed sensor or ABS sensor of some kind.. Either way, the other end of it (long grey wire) is disconnected and hanging in the engine bay! Any help here would be greatly appreciated. I'd LOVE to know where to re-hook up this thing... Thanks in advance!

My apologies, of course. This thing was a little hard to capture without jacking up the car, but here is what I could get.

Um... WOW... Sorry about that... Is there a way to delete my post?

Let me try attaching the files instead...

Anyway, the wire attached to the "sensor" is traced in red.

I only had one picture actually capturing the sensor itself... Should be #5. Its circled in red on the left.

thats a new one to me. on the trans, you should have 2 connectors, one for reverse lights, and one for speed sensor

Dang. Well I'm not sure if my reverse lights are working, but I'll check in the morning. I don't think it's my speed sensor as my speedo has been working perfectly. The other side of this thing is just completely disconnected so I would expect something to not be working, but so far I haven't found anything that is not in working order... If it turns out that my reverse lights aren't working and this is the sensor for that... Where would I hook it back up to?

Well it looks like I have no reverse lights.. And since my speedo works perfectly fine it looks like its the reverse lights switch. Any idea where the wire of that connects?

I would agree if the wire wasn't disconnected at the source. I have literally just 6 feet of grey wire attached from the sensor running all the way up into the engine bay, and there is no apparent place for it to connect...

sounds like someone was playing an electrician with your car, unfortunately you would need to get a wiring diagram for this
