Audi 90 - Very high oil pressure
I have a 95 quattro 5 speed v6, i was driving along one day and the oil pressure gauge maxed out (i mean all the way, past the 5 like pinned to the max) I thought maybe another electrical issue, the sensor or something for the gauge went bad and not to worry about it, until i noticed my car was burning a bit of oil. I can see the white smoke pour from it at high rpms down the road. I was curious if anyone has experienced this before, some solutions? Once i turn the car on, it immediately jumps to max.

Yes, As soon as the engine gets turned on the needle spikes to maxam on the gauge past the 5. Usually it doesn't smoke but the other day the engine was producing small amounts of smoke and the exhaust produces oil smelling smoke and clouds under higher rpm. It just stays at maxam never comes down.

I just recently picked up an Audi 90 as well and noticed that the oil pressure was pinned to the max when I was driving the car home on the highway. No smoke or anything from exhaust. Is this not normal? I will see what the gauge reads when the car is starting and at idle.
