Default Car runs very cool while driving.

My audi 90 2.8 V6 AFC runs to me what seems to be very cool. If i let the car sit it accumulates correct heat but after i start driving the cools down rapidly. Would this be a coolant sensor or a thermostat? At-least what i've managed to search from myself a coolant sensor is the back left not too hard to get to but the thermostat requires the removal of the timing belt? So im hoping sensor. . .anyone have a input or similar problem before?

It runs on cold. The needle literally moves back to the resting point while moving.

could be one of two things, either the gauge isn't working, or the thermostat is stuck open never allowing the car to come up to temp.

its normal for them to fluctuate between 1/4 and 1/2, but if your's falls back to the resting position, something is wrong.
i would start with a thermostat

Problem was fixed by replacing thermostat, it was a bitch to get to but its done now. I have heat again and normal operating temperate just in time for the winter!
