Default Coupe Q Coolant Level Indicator

The Driver Information Center (DIC) between the tach & speedo on my '90 Coupe Quattro at times illuminates the "Low Coolant" pictogram while driving. Coolant level in plastic coolant tank is at proper level. Is there some type of sensor in this tank or elsewhere that is going bad or perhaps just needs a cleaning? Other ideas/thoughts?
Currently have instrument cluster out of car to address non-working tach so thought this would be time to address this if problem is with actual DIC display unit.

Thanks,
Chris

Yes there is a level sensor float in the tank. Check the level sensor connector for corrosion bottom of the reservoir. Be aware if replacing the tank only use one from the dealer aftermarket tanks are junk. Could also be the overheat signal from the MFTS big temp sensor on the coolant neck on the head where the upper rad. hose attaches.
