Default help heads not getting oil

I have a 93 90 cs quattro. Long story short. My girlfriend had been driving it for a while. She decide to check and add oil well couple day after she tells me that I should be proud cause she checked the oil and added a quart of oil. Given this motor had been freshened resently with all new seals top to bottom it instantly raised concern on what that had done to the motor or what it could do. I drained the oil and it seemed fine then a few days later the heads start rattling like hell. Anybody have any idea what could have happened and why the heads are not getting oil. Kinda desperate tranny might have bombed in my 4.2 a6.

What do failed lifters look like? No gauge just dumby light.

they look like your engine is about to blow up when its running.... on the other hand, check your pickup tube... it maybe just clauged, and what oil are you using?

I use 5/30 full synthetic. So is it unlikely for the oil pump to go bad.

oil pump sits directly on a crankshaft and consists of 2 gears (one of which sits on the crank) and a spring with a relief valve, its not unheard of them failing and not being able to provide appropriate pressure but its kinda rear on these motors. first of all, get a repair manual, then check the pressure relief valve, maybe its stock (its the big 22-24ish bolt on the oil pump, then check your pickup tube (order a new bottom oil pan gasket while at it)
