Default 346,000 miles on 1990 Audi 100

My 1990 Audi 100 has approx. 346,000 miles on it now. The odometer broke at 341,257 in August 2014, so based on fuel usage since then, that is what I'm estimating... There's some photos at: My Audi - Audi History

Wow there are some high milage Audis out there.. My 89 90q odometer stopped working about three years ago at just over 230,000 miles. I'd have to guess that its at least over 250,000 by now.

I drive around 1,000 miles per month, so I'm at about 347,000+ miles now. There is a place locally that can fix speedometers, but I don't know whether spending $300 is worth it at this point...

Default q question for all you High Milers re. ATF

this is a ATF survey question to all the High Milers.

We all know it was once said that the ATF is 'for life' but given such high milage , nothing lasts forever right ?

Has everyone changed their ATF ?
you can post your reply at this thread as the debate rages on about ATF changes and what is lifetime.

Factory manual states every 30K miles for automatic and 60K for standard.

Audi claims the gear oil in the front diff is for life but many change that out too.

Default So what is a "Swiss spec"

So how is a "Swiss spec" car different than say, a "German spec" car? I've been to Switzerland but haven't noticed anything radically different there (other than higher costs...).

At present, my 1990 100 has about 558,300 km (= 347,000 miles). My 1990 Coupe Quattro has 110,952 km (=69,000 miles), so respectively, probably one of the highest mileage 1990 100's (in the USA) and from what I know, the lowest mileage 1990 Coupe Quattro (in the USA). Nice to have cars at both ends of the spectrum (in every respect):

CQ = Quattro vs. 100= front wheel drive
CQ = leather interior vs. 100 = cloth/velour interior
CQ = 2 dr vs. 100 = 4-dr
CQ= 5-speed manual vs. 100 = 3-speed auto

Regards,
Peter

Peter,
- engine code GV vs. WR (emissions)
- minor wiring and ECU differences
- trunk lid, see my avatar.

Ciao

Werner
