how to connect Depo headlamp ***'ys to existing 1990/90 bulbs & wiring?
In the previous post I mentioned that I finally got around last night to installing (with variable success) all the 'improvement' and various maintenance items I bought soon after this car (over a year ago!).
Addressing my biggest and most mysterious failures - the previous one asked about the rotor, this one about the Depo headlamp assemblies.
Yes, I noticed very soon the stock US lamps are awful! Add to that 20-some years of sandblasting, chipping, cracking, shiny stuff flaking off, etc. and you get mine. So dull & dim (perhaps like me) that I can't even 'flash' other drivers!! And we here in Alaska don't shoot each other (as often) on the road, as often, as other places so I kind of can't fully participate in the Whole Driving Experience with these dull lamps.
So I bough these Depo model 441-1107- R D -EM off eb - the place is still selling them, see (or search title)here:
Depo Audi 80 1986 87 88 89 90 91 43T Headlights Set New H4 Manual Electric | eBay
OK, cheap and they look good, check, but then it got to be cold Alaska winter/me lazy, and funny thing is, by the time it warmed up there was no more night (long AK days in summer) and the headlamps didn't seem so important.
Then winter came back, and as we're almost halfway through I figured I ought to get these on, so gave it the go last night...
Well ... these would've gone on great, but the receptacle area of the Depos doesn't 'match' any level of the existing lamp/wiring ***'y.
Any ideas, such as which part to buy next? I'm guessing/hoping there's some sort of standard ("oh yeah, you need the NMA-2139 assembly, blablabla") that I can refer to to make this easy and fool-proof!
I swear I'm going to get light from my car before this long winter darkness ends .. unless I get distracted/lazy again.
