Default Headlights and cruise out.

Hey guys, newbe here with a red '93 90CS at 140K miles.

My cruise control has been out for a few weeks now but I hadn't bothered to check the fuse.

-Today as I was on a road trip I noticed a very slight burning smell.

*** It get's dark and I realize my headlights are out. Thank God that at least both fogs work. High beams still work.

-I also notice that when I activate the left turn signal, the high beams come on. Or, if I push the cruise control activation, the high beams also come on. This does not seem to happen if I only have the parking lights on.

-All fuses are good.

Please help? Not sure what to do. On a tight budget so I'd like to DIY if possible. A recommendation of who to order parts through would be appreciated as well.

HAPPY TURKEY DAY!!!

Sorry,...what's STFA?

And thanks for the help. Anyone else have any other ideas?

STFA - search the forum archives, or something different for "F" :-)
check out one of my posts towards the end, it describes the trunk wiring harness https://www.audiworld.com/forums/sho...2824806&page=2

So I pulled the cover off steering wheel column and just jiggled the wires around. It got my low beams to come on but the high beam still comes on when I use my left turn signal. Just ordered a new steering column switch off EBay. Hopefully that cures it. I'll also replace the ignition switch at the same time. Gotta do some research on what to buy and how to DIY now.

Thanks for the guidance. I'll probably check the rear wiring harness as you suggested as well.

So finally got around to fixing this.

Found a new steering wheel light/ cruise control switch at Autohaus on sale.

Had to take steering wheel off to change it- found a DIY on replacing the steering wheel.

The wiring clip was slightly damaged so I had to push the wires into the switch to get good contact.

Works fine now.
