Default A1 ignition issue

Hi there

I have a 2012 (UK) A1 1.6. TDI.
For the last couple of days I have noticed that when turning the ignition off, sometimes (not all the time) there is a very soft (rather than definite) click on the last ignition position before I remove the key. When this happens, the radio no longer switches itself off and the 'lights on buzzer' no longer sounds when the drivers door is opened. Having played around, I have found that I can get a 'definite' final ignition 'click' by putting a little forward pressure on the key at this point. Am I right in thinking that this final click 'tells' the car that I'm getting out and that the radio needs to go off and things like 'lights on' buzzer might be needed? Am I right in thinking a new ignition barrel might be needed?

Cheers

Matt
