Default AMI cable

Does anyone know if this adapter will work with my iPhone connected via a standard Apple Lightning to USB cable? And if it will allow me to search through songs via the MMI screen? I've searched a bunch but can't seem to find definitive answers.

Yes I know.
It does not work to connect an I phone or Android device.

This MMI to USB cable will only allow you to list and play music media stored on a USB key. that is it.

Ok, thank you. Then there is this official lightning cable from Audi. Does anyone know if it enables playlists and albums to be displayed/browsed via the MMI, or does it simply do what the bluetooth connection does?

I believe the lightning cable allows listing of playlists but does not support album cover display...

Thanks for your help.

I was able to find a lightning cable connector on eBay, part number 4F0051510AC. It should allow browsing of songs in playlists and by artist, and possibly will display album artwork. It likely will not support video playback.

I'll report back when it arrives next week.

Has anyone tried using a 1-2 TB portable drive (the kind that doesn't need external power) with that USB connector? In the guide ValBoo posted there doesn't seem to be a size limit.

Just an update: I received http://www.ebay.com/itm/281418265258?_trksid=p2060778.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT lightning adapter but it does NOT work in my S3 for either an iPhone 6 or iPhone 5S, despite specifically saying it does. I will call the seller tomorrow and hopefully they can shed some light on the subject. It's also possible that it's a faulty adapter.

Reading that chart, it would seem the last one on right is correct for the A3/S3 MMI. Ends in "AL".

Yes, it appears that you are correct. Also, the middle connector with the red grommet should work, even with late iPhones via a 30-pin to lightning adapter. I may actually go with the latter because the page says that connection supports album art display.
