Default Detailing for new A3?

Just picked up my new A3. May sound stupid but just wondering when people typically start washing their new car upon receiving.

Also if there are any tips on detailing and any product recommendations? (OEM vs 3rd-party products).

Me too, with metallic. They cure/bake the paint under such high (infrared) temperatures that the finish is very durable as delivered (certainly 1-2 months later when you buy it in the US). A touchless wash would be fine. Or in your shaded driveway with simple green + water + soaking wet cotton bath towel. Then dry with the best chamois you can find. I use old school detailing stuff: cotton face towels + clean hot water + blue paper towel rolls and q-tips -- that's it. And buy a good glass cleaner in a can -- no windex

I'd say I wash my a3 twice a week. I use dawn soap and a squeegee. Done in 15 mins.

I use no rinse optimum waterless wash but really any wash is fine what matters is what you use. I use a lint free microfiber wash mitt and a waffle weave microfiber towel to dry it off. All this to minimize scratching your brand new paint

I just bought a bunch of Adams products in preparation of my new S3. I also bought Sonax Plus Wheel Cleaner.

I have never used either products but the came highly recommended.

Dish soap strips all wax off your paint. Make sure you apply some wax after you use that. AMMONYC is an awesome YouTube channel which will give you all the detailing info you will ever need in a very simple easy to follow method.

^^^This. Check out their videos for what I feel are the best tips out there. I personally have a nice collection of chemical brothers cleaning supplies for inside and out, I've had great success with anything from them
