Long-lost forum member returns to the fold with Daytona S3
Hi folks -- I'm a long-time (but long-absent) AudiWorld member who just pulled the trigger on a Daytona Package S3. I pick up the car on Tuesday. I had a modified 2002 A4 for almost 12 years that I loved:
I was very active on the B6 AudiWorld forum back when the car was newer, especially circa 2003-2006. Over the years, I got busy with work (and stopped modifying the car so much) and stopped keeping up with the forum regularly.
Last December, I traded in my beloved A4 for a Mercedes CLA250. That was a mistake; it wasn't a bad car, but it was ultimately pretty disappointing (and if anyone wants to know why, I'll be happy to explain in excruciating detail). Fortunately, my wife is a saint who understands how nuts I am about cars, so this afternoon we signed on the dotted line for a Daytona Package S3. I had originally planned not to spring for the Daytona, but once we decided that we wanted nav, a back-up camera and Magnetic Ride, we figured we'd go for it (especially since Daytona gray is as close as you can get to dolphin gray these days). Given how few Daytona packages they made, I was mildly surprised to find one available within the Washington D.C. area. I'm very excited, and happy to be back in AudiWorld -- I should never have left! Many more posts and pictures to come.

Good to hear, I didn't make a mistake by buying one. I drove a CLA and was real excited about it, before its hard plastic interior, awful excuse for a clunky twin clutch automated manual, and seriously weak feeling engine made me flaccid about it... lets just say I waited nearly a year for the s3

You made a good choice. I didn't mind the interior of the CLA (although we had the interior package, which covers the dash and doors in faux leather with stitching, which is nicer), but you're totally right about the clunky gearbox and the engine. I think the engine itself actually wasn't bad, but they programmed the throttle response to be so lazy that the car felt slow and underpowered. And the transmission was dreadful.
