Default Projected reliability for 2015 S3

I hear the "its a new model look out." point of view

and also the

"they have been making about the same thing for years with no issues." side.

What do you guys think?

The S3 has been on the streets in hatchback form overseas for about a year. I heard they sorted out some DSG issues since then (two revisions/tsb's)

as stated above the s3(mechanical/suspension) has been out for about a year overseas, but is new to the US. The 4dr saloon body style is new, but has been out for a good 6 months now

AFAIC, Reliability isn't even a concern with today's modern cars. I don't even pay attention to that J&D power stuff. If you do, you'll end up with a reliable lifeless car like a Camry or an Accord. And how much more reliable are they? Not much.

I usually deeply dislike generalizations, but spoon nailed it here.

(Although Consumer Reports is pretty nice to Audi, particularly the A4s)

I agree with both above!!! People comment at me for owning German vehicles all the time however although I've had my fair share of small issues...so have all the other car manufacturers if not worse! (GM *cough*cough*)

German engineering is good! : )

Picked up my S3 on Tuesday. Thought about the "new model" issue and decided to go for it... with an extend warranty to 100,000 miles. Normally I do not buy extended warranties on anything. However, after a $3000 repair on my former car (2008 VW 2.0T at $80,000 miles, I decided the warranty was worthwhile. Food for thought if you have concerns over engine troubles on a relatively new model.

PS - I love the S3.

My experience with cars has always been that if you do the maintenance and take care of it they tend to last forever. But the repairs on German cars do tend to be more costly.
