Default 2015 A3/S3 Roof Rack options….

I just started investigating this for Whispbar for my S3 but there is no info…

I can't stand the idea of clipping factory racks around my weather stripping.

I'm shocked at Whispbar for not having done the R&D on this yet, I would think that Merc, BMW and Audi would be their bread and butter.

What are peeps doing for Roof Racks for their 2015?

I have a Thule Areo Bar for my skis as the seats do not fold down in my current A4. I checked for the S3 all I need is to adjust the distance between the feet, and get new pads. However, the pads left marks on in the clear coat on the A4. I think I'm going to use clear Plasti Dip as a protective layer between the paint and the feet.

I didn't know you that you could have any Audi without folding seats... Interesting.

I'd use that clear static clingy plastic that 3m uses as their "clear bra" product, cut out to the shape of the feet.

Or, at min, wax that spot before installing.

You wouldn't happen to have any pics would you? I'm thinking about putting a rack on mine when my order comes in.

I bought the Audi ones. There is a round slot in the door frame they lock in to. Makes them pretty secure. I did not find another that would use the slot.

I'm also interested in the rack, I inquired with the local audi dealership and the cost is like $400 which is astronomical!!

Is there anyone who has used Thule/Yakima kind aftermarket racks! How good are they?

I have had the same Yakima rack since 1995. Originally bought for use on my Toyota tercel, moved over to a Saturn SL2 and most recently used on my 2000 Honda Accord. Moving it from the various makes and roof styles has required purchasing some updated mounting hardware from Yakima but that cost has been minimal compared to the original outlay for the cross bars bike racks and ski racks. I haven't looked into the necessary updates I will need to move it to the A3 but do not expect any troubles or major expense in doing so. The Yakima rack has always been rock solid for me and for several friends who also use them.
