Default 2015 S3 options question

My dealer is saying I cannot get the Audi active lane assist with the Premium Plus trim level. You can see from the web page while configuring your options it is selectable. I can also see it on the order form emailed to me from the dealership, Audi active lane assist (requires PCU on Premium Plus).

I contacted Audi corporate and they said it should be an option. AudiUSA opened a case for me, took my name, transferred me to my local dealership where I spoke to someone I didn't know, that same person said he would call me back in 5 minutes, which never happened.

I did give them a $1,000 deposit. Any advice? I just took a look at the A3 which has 3 trim levels, premium, premium plus and prestige. It also has the selectable, active lane assist starting at the premium plus level. I am starting to lose a little faith.

Here is a snippet from audiusa.com when configuring options:

Driver Assistance package

Parking system plus with selective display
Audi side assist
Rearview camera

$1,400

Audi active lane assist

$0

"Specifications, equipment, options, and prices are subject to change without notice. Some items may be unavailable when vehicle is built." I suppose I should just pay attention to the disclaimer on the web site. It is, however disappointing you can add this option on both the S3 and A3 Premium Plus. Perhaps I should be glad a $100 wheel alignment doesn't turn into a $500 wheel alignment. At least that is what at least one person posted some where out there on the web. Several reviews I read also assumed it was an available option for the Premium Plus. Oh well, enough said.

7Y5 Audi active lane assist $650

So it can be added after all. I have decided against adding the option due to some of the postings I have read concerning very expensive wheel alignments.

I would skip the active lane assist.
I do have the blind spot cameras and they work great. It is so much easier to change lanes knowing if there is someone next to you without have to turn yoour neck 180 degrees. This is a really good option. I also like the parking assist, especially the front cameras. I can't even count how many times I banged up my front spoiler on my last A4. I have had my S3 3 months and haven't even come close. This is worth every penny.

You would want to have Active Lane assist turned off if you're not on a highway IMO.

I have it on my A3 P+

It's not meant to be used on roads with a speed limit less than 45 and I would not skip it.

I haven't heard anything about a wheel alignment. Sounds like typical internet BS that probably came from a CLA fan.

Not to mention the package includes frontal collision warning, adaptive cruise control and bumps up the pre-sense basic to pre sense-plus!

I will always opt for the frontal collision warning system. I don't care how good of a driver we think we are or practice on being, sometimes cars come out of nowhere or stop for no reason. This system on my Ford Fusion has saved me a couple of times. If you rear end someone, you are at fault.

Plus, how often do you need a wheel alignment? How much extra could it be?

I think Audi sells a warranty/service like Audi Care that actually covers wheel alignments, battery, break pads etc...

I agree with drober and gamegenie, I would get it (well I did get it). Pre-sense front alone is worth it. It has saved me rear-ending folks in rush hour countless times.

Active lane assist is cool feature too (less frequently used, but cool). I use it for those times I find myself stuck on a long or boring or late highway drives...
