Default A3 2015 s-line steering wheel leather cracks due to cold?

Hi Guys,

I have some cracks appearing on the s-line type steerign Wheel on my 2015 audi a3 .
I first tought that these cracks/ scratches are due to my ring rubbing on the leather but I started taking off my ring when driving and I realized that new scratches are appearing in the morning before me even touching the car.

I'm thinking that this is due to cold weather and of course it will be hard to convince the dealer.
Is anyone having the same issue, specially here in canada with extreme cold weather?

thanks

I have to say they look like scratches not cracks. You will have a hard time I agree.

These look like scratches/abrasions, not at all like cracks (caused by weather or otherwise).

Those are not cracks. I have a few of those from accidentally clipping the wheel with my nails.

The cold may exacerbate the issue. However, it is highly unlikely the dealer will do anything about it.

I really have no idea how I could have scratched it. I was really careful everytime I drove the car.
Is there any way to remove the scratches by sanding them or applying a special lotion?

I had one or two minor scratches like in your photos when I picked my car up after dealer servicing. I went right back in and showed them. They kept the car another day and somehow (I forget what they did) took care of it. Fear of such things keeps me from letting a valet parking attendant or anyone touch the car. As to why the marks seemed to appear overnight, maybe the position of the wheel when straight ahead hides them and only when making sharp maneuvers do they show. They could have been there a few days before you saw them. Think who might have touched the car a few days before you noticed the marks.

Definitely scratches/abrasions and not cracks. If the dealer is no help, I bet a good shoe repair guy or quality luggage/purse store can fix this or tell you exactly how to fix it.

I agree that it can be fixed. Checked with an automotive interior specialist that usually recovers leather seats. They know all the tricks of the trade.

My brother has had some amazing interior repairs done to his mustang over the years.

Cut your finger nails those are scratches. They will buff out over time.

My wife's ring does that too… and it's not that big of a diamond… sure your lady isn't stealing it at night?
