It's currently 60 fps and the speed & rpm as very smooth and don't feel digital at all in my opinion.

Other stuff in the interface can be less smooth (looking at you map & sat nav), but the stuff that really matters is really smooth.

This is why Audi is jumping forward and going full Virtual cockpit for the A3 now.
Agreed on this. I went on a long road trip with my parents in their 2016 A6, and the LCD screen on that car is perfect. Still has the good analog gauges, but the display in the middle is 3 times the size the of S3 I have on order. I'm half tempted to delay my order and wait for a 2017.

That's good news, when I saw the TTS (prototype maybe) last year, it seemed a bit laggy. Good to know, yeah the GPS is a lot of data to push through a video card running in that little MMI box, but the 'needles' for RPM and Speed need feel real.

if you dont want the virtual cockpit then dont get the car. I have seen the virtual cockpit extensively and it looks great. there are options where you can just have the gauges shown. never heard or read any review discussing lag. sounds like the people who claim they can see lag in android phones. whatever. if you dont want it then dont 'justify' it here. just dont get it.
