Default Any oil consumption issues over here on the S3?

Seeing this is the same engine as in the TTS which many of us have preordered over in the other pages of this forum, and I just read that article on Yahoo from Consumer Reports, had me wondering. I drive a lot of miles (500/week) and don't want to procure a car with an oil consumption problem.

So...has anyone here experienced any oil consumption issues yet?

State your miles if you can and number of oil changes so far if possible.

Just about to go in for my first change 5000 miles, but I check it regularly and nothing unusual at all. About half my driving is composed of one day round trips that total about 300 miles.

I love this engine. Very responsive with the power distributed across the entire range. It doesn't have to be driven at high revs to show its stuff.

I'm at about 16,000 miles on my A3 with no signs of any oil consumption.

I had to add a quart of oil around 13,000 on my A3 if that helps at all

My S3 is 7 months old and just hit 3,700 miles. Had my first service last week and the oil was at full mark prior to the service. No consumption per the dip stick. Fantastic so far.

The 2.0TSFI I had in my 2011 Q5 was VAG's "oil consumer" engine. Lots of complaints as noted by CR. However, the engine combustion chamber was redesigned since and pretty much eliminated the oil consumption issue from what I have been reading.

Well, turbo cars use engine oil to cool the turbo, so there are bound to be some differences with a non-blown motors. BUT, 9800 miles on my S3 and never added oil.

Wouldn't taking your car in through the oil change Intervals pretty much make this concern moot.

3,350 here in my A3, and I had to add about 1/2 qt today. Warning message came on. I had be monitoring the usage each fill up and saw a small gradual decrease in oil level. Was thinking it would stretch to the 5k interval.

I have a 24mi round trip city commute pretty much, and one drag strip visit at around 2500. Babied it up until 1500. I have yet to see any oil smoke or other tell tale signs of premmature wear.

For what its worth I am not worried and will attribute it to break in/commute. The manual and various MQB threads on other forums have classified this as "acceptable" usage per VW/Audi manuals. I will send the oil to blackstone and monitor it as time goes on just to make sure all is well. While slightly inconvenient i still love the car. And a little regular top off shouldn't sway you from enjoying these cars.
