Default Best Audio Setting for S3 B&O system?

Hello All,

I absolutely love music and I am really digging the B&O sound system in my 2016 S3. I have been tweaking around with different levels of the B&O system. I am wondering if any audiophiles out there have reach a good setting on their B&O system?

Any feedback and settings you have are greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance.

all I can say is that if you use your SD card, OR plug your iPhone in, the SQ is quite good.

if you use Sir/XM or stream your music through bluetooth/wifi, not so good.

I really know know much about how I configured it. Sorry.

cheers

XM will always sound poor due to it's compression and bitrate limitations. I have found that the Bluetooth stream in the 2016 A3/S3 is rather poor as well. It is not as good as my previous 2010 S4 Bluetooth connection. Both cars have B&O Premium. I wonder if it is forcing a lower audio profile or downgrading the encoding for the BT stream in the A3/S3. Sound seems stuck int he mid-range. Definitely not using the full spectrum.

If I use the Wifi connection (requires you to open the app first so not very pleasant IMO) the sound quality is much better than BT. It stays very clear and hits the full spectrum when I crank it.

My personal preference settings are:

3 notches above the center setting for Subwoofer, bass, and treble
Place the dial 1/2 - 3/4 of the way for the surround sound and GALA

I can't be happier - other than wishing I could stream FLAC files - with the B&O system in my A3. I use 320 bit rate encoded by DBpoweramp. Dial it in using a few of your favorite songs then enjoy the music

Interesting that your sound with the phone plugged in is better than bluetooth. Mine seems the exact opposite. If I'm streaming bluetooth then plug in my iPhone the volume instantly drops.

Volume dropping can be for many reasons. Different input on the B&O system, which I believe you can adjust in the respective B&O input. AFAIK, when the iPhone is plugged in the output is analog from a digital conversion.

Most people agree the best audio input is from SD cards recorded in a high bit rate.

Agreed. I did stream some music from Tidal (trial) which is supposed to be high quality and it sounded excellent at like 17. Filled the car beautifully.

I found the bass to be a little soft initially. This has gradually deepened as I've got more hours on the vehicle, but I started at Sub +2, Bass +4 and Treble 0. Now I'm thinking of pulling the bass back to +3 or +2. I had good speakers on a previous car and they weren't spectacular on day 1 but improved with a bit of time.
