This one looks more like a bypass and not just a software fix like the other one, which is probably why it is so expensive and only works with certain units.

If that is the case, I think I would prefer the bypass so any future MMI update doesn't disable VIM. Still hoping that Audi will update the system to support CarPlay or Android Auto. Based on this video, I'm hopeful.

Excuse my skepticism, but I don't see Audi, AOA in particular, ever offering an upgrade for purchase, most auto manufacturers rely on the high rate of tech turn-over to sell cars, hoping that people will want things like CarPlay that nudge them to trade-in and upgrade the CAR. I would be really surprised to see an internal computer CPU upgrade on their accessory lists next to heavy duty mats - OHHH wait, they don't even have them yet!

Let time prove me wrong, I hope so, but I'd be surprised, albeit pleasantly.
