Default Remote Opener

I bought a keychain remote opener fob which is very small. I keep it on the ledge behind the cup holders.
My garage door opener is old also. You likey meed a "pin" type remote.

I asked my local dealer about retrofitting onto a non ACC S3. I was almost immediately rebuked with "almost impossible."

Is this in fact a PIO? Seems like they could do it if so...

Wait so you're saying they are doing a mid year update 2 months before they switch to the 2016 model year? I'm not sure I believe this.

I could see it on all 2016 cars however, and would be interested in a retrofit assuming it's not crazy expensive.

Actually, that makes it easier… get a CLICKER remote, borrow a neighbors, take a pic of the dip switches, replicate in the new remote… follow the directions to finish… you're good to go.

I got a very small black one, it's on my visor, barely visible. I was gonna go all integrated and such… this one was so small that I just programmed it and called it a day.

You can retrofit the parts. Don't listen to your dealer. And give him **** when you DIY.
Or.
You can buy a clicker.
Everything will be ok.

Default Checked Into This

Talked to my dealer about the Homelink. It IS now available for order on new A/S3's. I asked about a retrofit, and they told me "at least $1500". I didn't ask if that was just parts or included labor...

Saw the picture in the other thread. It's on the roof directly to the right of the drivers side visor, separate from the current roof/light controls. Retrofit would mean cutting into or removing the headliner. The owner said it was a $350 option pre-installed on his new S3, yikes...

I'll stick with my clipped on opener sitting in my drivers side door bin.

$295, but yes, not cheap. It's all relative when you negotiate the vehicle. I got 3k off MSRP, audi care and lock wheels were thrown in, 1.9% finance, and Audi is paying the first payment. I'm happy with the deal and now I don't have to carry two different remotes.

Does anyone know of a homelink mirror or older audi visor with homelink that will work?

I purchased a small remote control and velcroed it to the underside of the arm rest. since many controls are there anyway, it works great, is easy to access without opening the armrest, and you cant see it.

Give that a try
