How do you remove the rearview mirror in the S3?

I assume the S3 is the same as the A3 - but you need to verify.
I just removed the A3 mirror today while installing a cable for the radar detector.
The mirror will release with a rotation, about 1/16 turn clockwise (looking at the mirror from the seat). It takes some courage because it is snug.

lol... you bet it will!
I busted the mirror right off the windshield on my brand new Ford Fusion. Ford has the worst mounting system in the world! It's a spring loaded clip that has an enormous amount of tension on it. Even Ford dealers would not remove my mirror.
I'm removing the mirror so I can have an Escort 9500ci display mounted inside.

COUNTER clockwise rotation while looking at it from the seat. It will help if you remove the small trim piece (between the mirror body and the headliner). That piece has two clips that attach to the main body. With the small trim piece removed you can grip the mirror frame better.
Sorry for the error.
