Since the voice control button on the steering wheel is disabled for the Cabriolet (apparently due to wind noise with top down), I'm wondering if anyone has been able to get Apple CarPlay to work in an A3 Cab.

I wish Audi would not make the decision to disable and rather let the owner decide if they want to try to make it work. I suppose Audi was just worried about getting lots of complaints.

You can always enable it with VCDS or OBDeleven... Apple CarPlay only available with FL version.

Can you clarify what you mean by "FL version". I'm sure once you do I'll go "duh!" :-)

Meanwhile, Kia will be offering upgrades to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto for older models. If Kia can do it, why not Audi?

FWIW our A3 e-tron was one of a number of 2017 cars where carplay was missing and so they credited us $150. Problem, 2 fold - we didn't pay enough attention and didn't realize the car on the lot wasn't the exact same specs as one advertised on line

Long story short, we failed Audi on the new-buyer survey so they called us. Calmly I explained that it was either a part (unlikely based on everything else I could find) or a mis-flash of the firmware <- don't argue with software engineers I guess. The person we spoke to was super friendly and actually went and started chasing down techs and low and behold, indeed Audi suddenly came up with the fix.. car went in 2 weeks later for the reflash and carplay is now working fine

If you could confirm the actual parts are the same, I'd guess it's just a flash away...

Somehow I'm not holding my breath for a good outcome though. This ****-poor integration with the iPhone has me seriously considering dumping the car. Even my 2010 Jetta is easier to use with the phone - unreal!!!!

Just ask your dealer to turn on the voice system. Mine did with no issues. I do not use it very often though. Of course the 2015 does not have Car Play or Android Auto
