Default MMI issue

So over the weekend as I was driving, the MMI unit went down. I tried to use the button to pop it back up but it wouldn't go up.

After a couple minutes or so the MMI went back up and went back to normal.

Has anyone had this issue?

Are you referring to the display unit itself going up and down out of the dash? Or the system functions viewed on the display itself?

Yes the display unit. The screen that pops up when you start the car.

Sounds like MMI crashed and rebooted itself.

That's what I would say as well. I've not had that happen but it makes sense. I had functions of the system stop working about a month after I got my car. On a long distance drive. I had just put a few things into the glove box and nothing worked. No radio, no nav, no phone, etc. Turns out that something was pressing against the sim card in the electronic control unit in the glove box. Confused the system and it locked. Reseated the sim car and the world was good. As DennisMitchell stated, was probably just the system rebooting.

Thanks, that's what I suspected as well. Guess it really isn't a common occurrence.

Mine completely shut down today. Screen went down, radio went off, lights on the center console controls weren't lit up. A few minutes later I noticed that the radio station I was listening to was still displayed in the gauge cluster so I turned the volume up on the steering wheel control and everything turned back on as well as the screen popping back up. I don't know if this made it turn back on or was just a coincidence. I'm getting very frustrated with the issues my car has had / is having (navigation went out, A/C needed replaced) in the first 6,000 miles. I'm hoping this isn't a sign of things to come.
