Yeah tint is the way to go, and this is from someone with the convenience package. Sure the rear view mirror auto dimming is good, but those side mirrors can be a pain too when someone with brights on come up on the side. Tint will take care of all of this and it will make the car look nice.

I've been wondering the same. Was told by service advisor that additional wiring harness is required and the mirror is >$1k. Going to email him to get an itemized quote just to confirm his info. I'll post the part number when I get.

Awesome Peter, let us know what happens. My dealer just said they didn't know.

BTW, I hate it SO much that I'd be willing to pay the $1k, no joke. HATE, LOATHE, ABHOR, DESPISE, …FAIL.

^^^ Also, I can't imagine needing a full-on harness addition, I would think that it just needs power. I mean right?

Nice find. I can handle not having Homelink or Seat Memory. Don't need the Side Assist. But the Auto dimming rearview is kiiillllllling me!

Funny how different things bother different people. I actually didn't want the auto dimming mirror as the one on my 2005 A4 didn't dim enough. So I didn't get the package that includes auto dimming.

Not having HomeLink is an annoyance and not offering it a mistake on Audi's part (they probably figure the majority of the age group they're aiming for doesn't have a garage).

What really bothers me is the terrible blind spot on the driver's side, thanks to the US-required flat side glass on the driver's side. When I was in England this summer I picked up the Euro-spec driver-side convex mirror at an Audi dealer in London for about $75. No more blind spots.

Just because the Auto-Dimming mirrors weren't effective 10 years ago, doesn't mean it will remain that way for the rest of time. Auto-Dimming works great now.
