Just took delivery of a 2016 s3 on Saturday, super excited. At the time of signing, I realize it had about 200 miles on it all ready. Didn't think about it much at the time. Should I be concerned that engine wasn't broke in properly or is break in period a thing of past. I also drove about 250 miles to go home. Cruise control the whole way pretty much. Thanks guys for any comment.

Mine had over 100 miles on it. I was told they drive the car from dealer to dealer sometimes. Mine came to San diego from la.
You generally do not want to cruise for long periods while breaking in a new engine. You want to vary the Rpms from time to time.

Welcome to the forum and congratulations on your new S3!
200 miles on the ODO is, IMO, OK. The dealership probably used it for demos before it was sold to you. I won't be concerned about the engine not being broken in properly. Just watch your oil consumption and make sure it is within the normal rate. The engine will consume a bit more oil during break-in. Avoid constant speed as much as possible during break-in. It is good practice to vary engine speeds up and down once in a while during a drive.

Congrats and welcome to the group!! You'll grow to love the car more and more every day. Don't think you should be concerned with the mileage. I was informed by several sources that a break in isn't really even required now. The engines are machined so tight now that break in oil and mileage worries are non existent. But old habits and thought die hard. I would vary your driving a bit as the others recommended. Throw a bit of Wide Open Throttle in there to put a smile on your face as well!

Break-in is not what it used to be, varied RPM are the most important, I'm sure the test rides provided that. You'll find that most of us had some sloppy-seconds of some form on our S3s.
BUT... you broke a MAJOR rule of the forum; New car MUST = a pic of it on the board!! (Rookie.
Seriously, though welcome.

Thanks guys for the info, I was a bit concerned. Pic will come this week after the first wash. Additional question, is there a oil indicator on the car other than using the dip stick. I messed around the mmi and googled it but with no luck. Happy thanks giving!!!

I wouldn't worry much about it. In no time you'll be at 5,000 and soon 15,000. I'm almost there on the latter.
When I took delivery it was only like 10 miles, but this wasn't a lot car but a custom order A3.
