Default S3 wouldn't get into gear from stopped

Yesterday, driving in manual mode, I accelerated to pass a car and then braked at a stop sign to a complete stop. When it was my turn to go, with transmission in M1, I pressed on the gas and nothing happened. I shifted to A, nothing, tried S, and same thing. I finally had to switch off the car and turn it back on with the start/stop button, and it would get into gear and move.

Is this a common problem? Seems super sketchy to me, lucky I was not at a busy intersection when that happened.

Ouch. That would be pretty un-nerving I'm sure. Glad you got it cleared. I had a power loss while driving one day. Car just wierded out. Pull to the road side, shut down and restarted. Was perfectly fine and never did it since. Hope it was just a fluke. Too many microchips and microcircuits. I work in the electronics field and the stuff definitely isn't perfect unfortunately.

When you say "nothing" you mean no forward motion or really nothing? No RPM increase?

Car did not move, engine did not rev, RPM did not rise. Like the accelerator did absolutely nothing.

Yikes. Sounds like it's running Windows - you had to turn it off then on again.

Seriously though, sorry... just that one time?

Yes just once so far, but I have under 150 miles on this car.

I'd take it in and have it scanned (or if you know someone with a VAGCOM cable do it yourself)... mostly likely it kicked out errors.

^^^arU4ic is quite right. There should be a record of the errors generated. Audi service department definitely should be notified. Especially considering the low mileage.

Ok I'll pull the errors and see.
@arU4ic since you're in SF too, which dealership in the bay do you go for service?
