Perhaps Audi refers to it as the MQB platform to avoid confusion but the Q3 is based on the old A3 chassis, not the new A3 chassis.

I’ve also been hoping for an A3 Sportback (I’d prefer an S3 Sportback, or even an A3 2.0 Quattro, but I may give the TDI a shot since I like the Sportback so much). Issue 108 of Audi Magazine (March 2015 - http://audilibrary.audiusa.com/viewer/magazine/all/en_US.audi.Audi_magazine.2015.108/) has an article on the Sportback, and it says it’s coming back in upcoming model years [soon] as an Audi A3 TDI Clean Diesel, and in 2016, and an Audi A3 e-tron plug-in hybrid. Whatever “[soon]” means. But Audi Canada has an A3 Sportback TDI configurator. Have they always had the Sportback in Canada? (There’s no model year so I don’t know if I’m looking at a 2015 or a 2016 Sportback TDI.) If the Sportback’s new for Canada could this be an indication that the US might be getting a Sportback TDI for MY 2016?
