Has anyone used Apple Pay with that piece of metal in the back of the case? If Apple Pay still works, then I'll succumb to this as my mounting solution.

Unfortunately you need to order a complete new Clearmounts as the one you have is held with glue and a screw.

Yes Apple Pay works perfectly. The metal plate does not interfere at all.

I tried the proclip first, since I already had some of the parts for it from my previous car, but it didn't look good enough for my taste.

Clearmount is definitely the best mounting solution for these cars. It's also nice being able to turn the phone horizontal.

After confirming (via here and Carl directly) that Apple Pay, the NFC reader, and GPS all work w/out issue, I ordered a ClearMount for my wife's A3. Got in in less than a week. Install was easily under 5 minutes, and works like a champ. Just placed my order for a second one, for my S3. Thanks, Carl!
