Thoughts on 20 inch ride quality & bent rim worrying
Hey all,
So I think I'm getting ready to bite the bullet on new rims and wanted to go with 20inch rims. Most think they are too big, but I honestly love they way it makes the car look. However I'm worried about ruining the rims with the decreased rubber.
Few questions for those that actually have them, are you extra careful with driving, being worried about bending the rims? I live in the bay area, CA and the roads aren't horrible but they aren't great as well. Where I live, PG&E has been tearing up the roads, replacing gas pipes so those parts, the ride becomes fairly rough with just the 18's. However I have the Bilsteins too which don't soak up most of the road's roughness like the stock suspension.
Any feedback from anyone with larger rims? Most likely getting 235/30/20 tires. I don't think the stock A7 255/35/20 will work on our cars either. I believe a + 35 or 38mm offset too for hopefully a flush look without wheel spacers. Keeping the 18s' to be used for track days.
Thanks!

20 inch rims will disintegrate on the slightest pothole
I was a passenger in a s7 with 20s when a tire blew over a pothole (granted it was decent sized)
but that's a bigger overall tire/wheel size than the a3..
sounds risky
