I'm deciding to tint or not on my Black 2016 S3 with Black Optiks Package and advanced handling package.
On my previous 2011 VW Golf 3-door, I had tints on 3 rear windows at 5% and it I loved it. Other people sitting in the back complained a lot but no issues for me lol
On my S3 though, I did research and many people are going with 35%. I cannot do all-around tint as it is illegal here (so just the back windows again). Anyone has the same setup and pictures I can see?
1) Does using the windows (open/close), reduce the life of the film?
2) As for the installation, is removing the door panels necessary?
3) Any recommendations on the brand and model of the film I should use?
I got Suntek Carbon on mine. Front two windows (illegal, but did them anyway) are 35% and everything else is 20%. Door panels do not have to be removed. My installer removed the rear brake light and tinted the entire window instead of cutting around it. Looks much better that way.

35% all around. In NY the police pull you over for anything so I didn't want to go to dark. The bridge and tunnel MTA police are the worst because they have nothing else to do but to pull you over for tints
Went with 35% all around in my A3. Did upgrade to the ceramic film which definitely helps reduce heat buildup in the black interior in summer months in Ohio.
I also added a 3" windshield strip that really helps keep sun from beating down on steering wheel and in my face driving. worth the little extra.
