Default Tire Pressure on winters

I purchased an Audi S3 and bought winter tires on them from the dealership and wanted to check the correct tire pressure.

Tires are:
Pirelli Sottozero 3 225/40 R18

The front is at 34 psi and back at 33 psi. The door says 42 psi. Which is correct? Are my winters under inflated or is the number on the door just for the summer tires?

Thanks!

Refer to your Owner's Manual for "normal load" tire pressures for your size tire. The door sticker lists tire pressures for "full load" conditions.

It's 39 front and 36 rear in the manual but does split into performance and all season. Is the fact that they're winter tires irrelevant? Just follow the tire wall and put in the recommended psi?

Thanks!

Don't do that. Tire wall pressure is the tire manufacturer's maximum pressure recommendation. Tires can be used for more than just the Audi. I wouldn't use that tire manufacturer pressure as we have Audi recommended pressures that were engineered for the vehicle.

Didn't really mean that. I'm looking at the size of tire on the tire wall: 225/40 R18, then going to the manual and putting in the psi weight. I ended up inflating to 39 front and 36 rear, same as what would be my winters when I switch to those.

I also just checked what the dealer put in those and they were in the 40's, which seemed more like the max load pressure. I'll probably put those at 39 and 36 as well.

If anyone finds I'm not doing this right, please feel free to advise further.

Hey Dennis -

Question re: the winter wheels in your DropBox pix: are they the 18" Andros R9 Wheels available here from TireRack?

Hi. I replied to your private message. This post has the specs https://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud.../#post24629916. My wheels are ALZOR from ECSTUNING. Others have the ANDROS from TireRack and seem happy. If you are getting tires at same time, might be best to get those from TireRack already mounted.
