i've been getting a unknown beep 1-2 min after starting engine. happens if i'm moving or parked. doesn't correspond to any light or display that i have noticed. not seatbelt warning, just a single beep. any ideas? could be one of the many screens of the onboard computer display thingy on the main console, but have no idea which and why. any ideas?

speed warning beep? speed warnings can be set in mmi i think? does it occur when driving or standing still?

nope, don't have a speed warning set and happens moving or still. happens once, 1-2 min after starting and doesnt happen again. hmmm....

finally figured it out! it a text message notification. since it doesn't put fort an onscreen notification and since i usually have audio notifications turned off on my phone, i have never made the correlation. so, once the bluetooth connection is made, if i have an unread text, it beeps when the connection is made.

I was going to guess text/email notification. I was wondering about the random beep, too, and some other thread pointed it out.

Now if I could figure out how to tell it to retrieve my text messages instead of just my email, that would be great.

You're probably correct.
I just wanted to share another single lower-pitched beep (or bong) that took me some time to work out in my '09 Golf which was when the GPS lost satellite connectivity and reverted to 'dead reckoning' mode. I don't yet know if the A3 has something similar here.
