VAG-COM HEX-USB+CAN with 2016 A3 Cabriolet?
I'm looking into getting a Ross-Tech VAG-COM system for my 2016 A3 Cabriolet (Premium Plus w/ Tech Pkg). The recommendation from Ross-Tech is to buy the HEX-NET version, which they say will cover "all the nuances" of the 2016 models. I would prefer a wired solution (HEX-USB+CAN) which is significantly less expensive and does not have the limitation of only being licensed for use on 10 VIN's. Ross-Tech says they can't guarantee it will handle all of the new equipment put into the 2016 model. Maybe yes, maybe no.
So my question is does anyone have experience using HEX-USB+CAN on a 2016 A3 and were there any modules/equipment that it could not read or work with?
Thanks for any feedback!!

I have the HEX-USB+CAN and a 2016 A3 Cab Premium Plus. It works fine. Some of the tweaks are different than the sedan and some of the label files are not complete for the long coding helper. The service reset is not the normal route but there is a way to do it. With Audicare I will not need to do that reset for about 54K miles. Hope that helps.
Wife's car and she luvs it. Her old one (A4 Cab) was classier but this this one is cuter and much quicker and quieter. Also went from a full size matching alloy wheel spare to none.

rdA4WtQ5,
Thanks for your response - that gives me much more confidence to go the HEX-USB+CAN route! Have you tried to enable the voice command button for the Cabriolet? That is probably the most important mod I want to make. It bugs me that they disabled that, making the decision for us, even though I fully understand that it will not likely be of much use when driving with the top down.
Again, thanks for the feedback!!

Hi njair,
You are welcome. I did get the voice command to work. At the time I did it you needed the actual code as there was no label file giving you boxes to check. I did locate it on another forum I think. I also did the usual needle sweep, mirror tip down in reverse and oil temp. What is still missing is the gear number showing what gear you are in when in D or S. So far you can only get that one with a DSG tune. So there must be a code but not public knowledge yet.
