I'd be curious to see what happens when you take it in for service and if the audi mechanics notice something interesting with the software. I would not want this to void any kind of warranty that I have.

Depends on the AMI cable and iPhone model. If you have an older iPhone with 30 pin and AMI cable, or the latest AMI lightning cable with an iPhone 5 or later, yes, it should work so long as the video files on your phone meet the file type and max resolution spec requirements as found in your MMI manual.

While uncommon, if a dealer reloads the MMI for some reason, i.e. software glitches, it will likely reset any mods back to default. Most MMI updates will not usually affect mods of this type. It sounds like all this thing does is make a change that Vag-Com could do if one knew the bit coding. Obviously this guy figured it out and found a way to make some money. At least until someone else does as well and decides to share it with the A3/S3 community like most do. That he coded the dongle for a single use shows where his head is at on this.

That's a relief. I was going to ask where you live so I could call an ambulance service to be on stand-by.

On a serious note, a safe use of VIM is to listen (only) to music videos.
