If you compare an A3 Premium Plus with rear air bags and maybe LED lights vs an A4 Premium Plus, it's only a $3k price difference. That doesn't seem like a great bargain to buy an A3 vs an A4? What do you guys think?
I want a fairly compact car for ease of commuting - I travel 70 miles a day (mostly highway). Although, one could argue why I'm buying a German car if I travel 70 miles a day since I will pay a lot for maintenance. I buy cars new and keep them until 10 years or more.
How did the current A3 owners compare between their cars and the A4?

My A3 stickered for $37,010. At the time I suppose I could have gotten one of the last 2016 A4s with a $40,000 sticker, but I'd be getting the last of the B8s and I wouldn't have had advanced key or sport suspension. And a 2017 A4 leases terribly so that wasn't even in consideration.

My 2015 A3 sticker price was $43,095 and it was still a Premium Plus without everything ticked.
- I didn't get Bang and Olufsen.
I was cross shopping the A3 at the time with the 2014 A4 and came down firmly on the side of the A3 after seeing the A4 interior and how it looked dated.
But if the B9 A4 existed in 2014, I would have never gone with the A3.
With the A4 now having a faster engine than the A3 and everything else, it's actually no longer big argument to shop for the A3 with the new A4 besting it.
