While I am not an expert on tires, I have never heard of street tires cracking in cold temperatures. Yes, I have seen R-compound track only tires which cracked in cold weather. But, there are people that use summer performance tires year round in cold weather. If the tires truly cracked, you would not see car manufactures selling them without huge warnings in any area that could experience freezing temperatures.

It is possible that cold weather could cause the rubber of the tires to prematurely harden and therefore lose some grip. How much this is, I doubt we will ever know for sure.

Did you get the foam inserts as well?

I did, but I really didn't need them. That's if I was replacing the entire wheel (and I was only swapping out the all-season tires) the foam inserts would protect the rims from getting scratched.

Although now I might used them if I buy some aftermarket wheels to use with my all-seasons when I swap out the winters.

I bought the foam inserts and will be swapping out rims/tires not just tires.
