Price and no manual transmission option. Got to have a manual option or this car (A3/S3) just isn't going to sell. And it's really big money for mediocre driving dynamics....

It will sell in America just fine with the DSG........I would call it much better than mediocre driving dynamics even in comfort mode. But when in dynamic mode it is quite a nice handling four dour sedan.

Obviously have not driven a BMW 3-series recently... Even my Q5 outperforms that POS, and the A3 is even better than the Q5.

I will have the DSG gearbox any time over a slush-box or a manual. Even F1 cars have auto boxes nowadays. Electronics are just so much more efficient that humans.

These are apparently flying out of dealers in the SE PA area....we (daughter and I) were shopping for one and every day the inventory changed and various dealers.
She picked up her Phantom/Chestnut/MMI--Nav/Cold/Alu-package/Rs wheels car. Got a good 36 month lease for under $400/mo.

If you don't mind me saying, both are quite attractive.

Most people don't want to spend the extra money for all wheel drive. Not necessary here in SoCal.

Because it's a luxury car and not a economy car.

This would imply there are also few Subaru WRX's. Its been a few years since I've been to Cali but I bet there are a ton of Subies running around.

Maybe the car is just too conservative compared to the curvy CLA. Personally, I find the S3 looks better than the A3. Most CLAs you see are also very bare bone ones, and very few CLA45s running around (North Carolina).
