We've updated survey results for the A3 to include owner experiences through September 30, 2009x. In terms of successful repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2009: 52, about average, very small sample size
2008: 30, better than average, small sample size
2007: 39, better than average
2006: 118, worse than average
We've also introduced two new statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
In the case of the 2006 A3, the percentage with no repairs is about 38, and the percentage of lemons is about 15. The latter is unusually high. We don't yet have enough data on other years to provide these statistics.
A big thank you, once again, to JET, this forum, and everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in February and May. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

232 A3 owners now signed up. A good start, but more are needed to provide precise results for all model years. Especially need more 2008s, 2009s, and 2010s.

2009: 32, better than average, but very small sample size
2008: 42, about average, small sample size

Recently enhanced the related repair history survey so that it can (optionally) be used as a personal car maintenance record.
As always, more participants would be helpful. Updated Car Reliability Survey results in May.

We've updated survey results for the A3 to include owner experiences through March 31, 2010. In terms of repair trips per 100 cars per year:
2009: 25, better than average, but small sample size
2008: 38, better than average, sample size a single car short of the minimum for a full result
2007: 52, about average
2006: 73, about average (will improve as the clips for the sunroof shade fall outside the one-year window)
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
In the case of the A3, the percentage with no repairs is about 44 for the 2006 and 58 for the 2007, while the percentage of lemons is about 3 for the 2006 and less than one for the 2007.
Thank you to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in August and November. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.

Updated stats in about two weeks. The 2008 barely made it to the minimum for a full result, and the 2009 fell a single response short. So even a few more participants per model year would be very helpful.

2009: 27, better than average, but small sample size
2008: 51, about average
2007: 66, about average
2006: 61, about average
We have two additional statistics, "Nada-odds" and "Lemon-odds," to indicate the percentage of cars with no repairs in the past year and those that required 3+ trips to the repair shop.
In the case of the A3, the percentage with no repairs is about 63 for the 2006 and 50 for the 2007.
Thank you to everyone who has been helping. We'll have further updates in November and February. With more participants, we could provide more precise information and cover all model years.
