Changing cluster/ clocks
Hi
I want to change my clocks on my audi a3 sportback 2011, the new clock is from a audi 2009 it's got a digital dash on . I have swapped them around but new clock won't come out of safe mode, I've also plugged it into odis system and tried to clear fault. Can anyone help as I don't want to pay dealar prices thanks

When you say clock, are you talking about the entire instrument cluster? What exactly did you swap?
If you swapped the entire cluster, are you sure it's compatible? Maybe it needs coding... Also, the immobilizer is physically inside the instrument cluster (actually, same electronic module), so that's probably the reason why it's in SAFE mode - it probably needs to be coded to your car. I'm not an expert on immobilizer stuff, but I'm pretty sure you can't just drop one from a different car and expect it to work.
What were the fault codes that you read with the ODIS tool?

Hi.
If an instrument cluster is replaced you are fitting a new immobilizer also (as the previous poster mentioned the immobilizer is inside the unit). Therefore your existing keys need to be recoded to the replaced unit to allow the vehicle to start. It also needs to be coded to your vehicle but as it's not the correct instrument panel, you may encounter problems.
Have the keys coded and see how you get on.
